Understanding EU wants to reevaluate together with European Union’s citizens the role of the EU’s legal framework and how it influences the daily life of millions of citizens throughout Europe. We want to create material in easy language that is based on the needs of citizens and that sets new standards in how the functionality of EU is explained to citizens. Furthermore, we want to reflect together with citizens on ways to make language in official EU communication and documents easier and more inclusive.
Project Partners
As an Erasmus+ project, Understanding EU brings together experienced partners with different backgrounds and expertise from five different European member states. Together we work on enabling new ways to make knowledge about EU institutions accessible to all European citizens.

Citizens Dialogues
Your opinion is needed! As part of this project, we are gathering insights from people like you to better understand how EU laws affect everyday life, what challenges exist in understanding them, and how we can improve communication on EU legislation.
Platform
Currently under construction, the Understanding EU Platform will host an interactive lexicon, explanationn videos and much more to explain key issues of Europe’s legal framework in easy language.
